Prepping for your Piercings
Please note, a legal parent or guardian must be present during the entire piercing process & bring a valid government issued photo ID
A little preparation goes a long way in making your piercing experience smooth, safe, and stress-free. Here’s how to get ready for your appointment
-
Stay Hydrated & Eat a Meal
-
Make sure you eat a good meal and drink water before your appointment. Being hydrated and fed helps prevent feeling lightheaded or faint.
-
-
Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, and Blood Thinners
-
Skip alcohol, excessive caffeine, aspirin, and other blood-thinning medications (unless prescribed by a doctor) for at least 24 hours before your appointment. These can increase bleeding and slow healing.
-
If you arrive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Luxe reserves the right to deny you service and charge 100% of the appointment fee.
-
-
If you are pregnant, we will not pierce you. It is your responsibility to inform your piercer if you are pregnant.
-
DO NOT apply numbing cream
-
Numbing creams can change the texture and elasticity of the skin, making it harder to pierce cleanly. This can lead to a rougher puncture, a less precise placement, and slower healing.
-
-
Piercing Room Policy:
-
To ensure your safety and the best possible experience, photos and video recording of the piercing process are not permitted at The Luxe Beauty Lounge unless by the piercer. Once the piercing is complete you are welcome to take photos/ videos.
-
You’re welcome to bring up to two guests for support. However, during the actual piercing, guests will be asked to step back and avoid watching. This allows the piercer to stay fully focused on you and your procedure without distraction.
-
Once the piercing is complete, I’ll let everyone know when it’s okay to look again. Thank you for respecting this policy and helping create a calm, safe environment!
Taking Care of your Piercings
Please note, the more steps you follow, the better results you will get!
Healing is a journey, not a race. Following these guidelines will help you heal safely and protect your new piercing.
It’s normal for piercings to bleed slightly at first — this usually stops within a few minutes. Light pressure around the area can help slow bleeding. If bleeding is excessive or doesn’t stop, please seek medical attention.
Some swelling is also normal right after your piercing. The jewelry selected for you allows room for swelling. You can use a warm compress to help bring swelling down comfortably, avoid ice.
General Care for All Piercings
-
Clean your piercing 2-3 times daily with a sterile saline solution.
-
Wash your hand prior to cleaning the piercing.
-
When cleaning the piercing, you can either spray directly on the piercings (front & back) or spray a cotton swab and clean it front & back. When using a cotton swab, make sure you use a new swab for each piercing.
-
After cleaning, use a new cotton swab to wipe off the excess, leaving it damp can cause issue.
-
If you run out of the saline solution provided to you, you can order this.
-
DO NOT make your own saline solution, or use alcohol/ hydrogen peroxide on your piercings.
-
-
-
Avoid touching your piercing except when cleaning it.
-
Do not spin, rotate, twist, or play with your jewelry. This can slow the healing process down.
-
Avoid makeup, lotions, or other products near the piercing site.
-
Do not remove or change your jewelry until the piercing is fully healed. When you do change it out, be sure they are high quality. You can always book a jewelry change appointment with Luxe to change it out.
-
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and bodies of water during the healing process. If it is unavoidable, clean your piercings as soon as you are out of the body of water.
-
Avoid harsh soaps, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or antibacterial ointments
-
Avoid going without jewelry, especially the first 6 months. The hole may close very quickly.
-
Do not sleep on your piercings, if needed use a travel pillow or piercing pillow to sleep with your ear in.
